The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is India's premier central recruiting agency responsible for appointments to and examinations for Group A & Group B services. Under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, it maintains the highest standards of meritocracy. The Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) Assistant Commandant (AC) recruitment is one of the most prestigious defense entries in India. An Assistant Commandant serves as a Group A Gazetted Officer, leading a company of approximately 130–150 brave soldiers. Their responsibilities include maintaining internal security, border guarding, counter-insurgency operations, and disaster management across elite forces like BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB.
The selection process for 2026 is rigorous, involving a Written Examination (Paper I & II), a Physical Efficiency Test (PET), a Medical Standards Test, and a final Personality Test/Interview conducted by the UPSC board. This recruitment is vital for India as it ensures the induction of young, dynamic leaders to safeguard the nation's borders and internal harmony.
