The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is the premier recruitment body in India, functioning under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions. It is mandated to conduct examinations for various Group B and Group C posts across Central Government departments. The SSC GD Constable Recruitment 2026 is a significant national-level event, offering thousands of vacancies for youth to join the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) including BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, SSF, and the Assam Rifles.
A GD Constable serves as the backbone of India's internal security and border management. Their responsibilities include guarding international borders, maintaining law and order, and assisting during disaster relief or election duties. For many Indian aspirants, especially from rural and semi-urban areas, this job represents a dream of serving the nation while securing a stable government career with benefits under the 7th Pay Commission.
The selection process is divided into four main stages: a Computer Based Examination (CBT), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standard Test (PST), and a Detailed Medical Examination (DME). This recruitment cycle for 25,487 posts is highly competitive, attracting millions of applicants.
