Brief Information

The **Indian Air Force (IAF)** is the air arm of the Indian Armed Forces, globally recognized for its prowess, technology, and 'Touch the Sky with Glory' ethos. The **Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT)** is the premier gateway for male and female Indian citizens to join the force as **Group 'A' Gazetted Officers** in Flying and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) branches. This recruitment cycle, designated as the **AFCAT 01/2026 Batch**, is designed to select elite candidates who possess high mental agility, leadership potential, and physical fitness. **Job Profile and Branches:** * **Flying Branch:** Officers in this branch are trained as Fighter Pilots, Transport Pilots, or Helicopter Pilots. They are responsible for air defense, strike missions, and supporting ground forces during peace and war. * **Ground Duty (Technical):** These officers manage sophisticated aircraft and weapon systems. They lead teams of technicians to ensure the airworthiness of the fleet, involving Aeronautical Engineering (Electronics and Mechanical). * **Ground Duty (Non-Technical):** This includes Administration, Logistics, Accounts, Education, Weapon Systems, and Meteorology. These officers handle the vital infrastructure, human resources, financial management, and strategic planning required to keep the IAF operational. **Career Growth & Lifestyle:** Joining the IAF as an officer offers a life of dignity and adventure. Starting as a **Flying Officer**, an individual can rise through the ranks to Air Marshal. Beyond the competitive salary (Level 10 of 7th CPC), officers enjoy comprehensive medical facilities, subsidised housing, Canteen Stores Department (CSD) facilities, and a secure post-retirement life. The training at the Air Force Academy (AFA) Dundigal is rigorous, transforming young graduates into 'Air Warriors' ready to defend the nation's sovereignty.
